For long years, the universe is believed to be consistently uniform. Also, there are some beliefs that the universe is homogeneous and isotropic. Isotropic because it is assumed to appear identical from all possible directions and homogeneous deals with the concept that two larger regions of the universe resemble each other in many aspects.

These two terminologies are quite dissimilar from each other. According to the isotropic theory, there are no specific directions to the entire universe. Contrarily, the homogeneity term implies that the matter’s distribution or density is the same in almost any part or region of the universe on a large scale. This means there cannot be a special part of the universe’s location that can be pointed out distinctly.

In some small part of the universe, you may find more galaxies than any other region. But, if considered whole, the number of galaxies and its distribution might not appear different. Therefore, the cosmology principle, keeping the standard concept, says that the universe can be called homogenous and isotropic on a large scale (as a whole).

According to some astronomical studies, the term “Big Bang” is supposed to be inappropriate in describing its origin or the beginning of the universe. Big Bang implores the concept of some enormous or gigantic thermonuclear explosion (similar to firecracker explosion) assumed to be occurring at the mid or center of the universe. From then, it is further assumed to have expanded to cover up the prior vacuous.  

However, at the time of evolution of the universe, it might be a minuscule space region of absolute density. Space might have evolved and expanded itself from that fundamental region.
